Yes, #TheTravelingMac has abandoned #TheMillenniumFalcon for a week and decided to visit his #Grandparents… They are way up there in age and my Mother asked me if I wanted to come with her and visit them where they retired in #England…
I have to say, my Mums is probably one of the best daughters on this planet… She goes back to England 3 to 4 times a year to help my Grandparents out… She has #MealsOnWheels delivered to them twice a week and tries her hardest to keep them as independent as she can…
As with most old folks, my grandparents are resistant to any outside help but my Grandmother has #parkisons and it is getting worse by the day… So, my Mums goes back there frequently to check up on them… I hope to do the same for her when she reaches that point in her life because she really deserves no less… She also calls them practically every morning on her way to work…
We flew through the night which is the best way to avoid #JetLag… I personally cannot fall asleep on a vessel which is bolting through the air at thousands of miles per hour… I hate flying so doing it at night and barreling through the next day in England is the best way for me… Once you get to go to bed at around 10pm, you are so exhausted you pass out and it tends to set my sleeping schedule for the duration of the visit…
Honestly, I don’t get jet lag when we do this… I may feel a little drowsy here and there throughout the day but it’s minimal… You just have to get through that first day, which is a little bit of a challenge…
This is a very famous tunnel above which was built not too long ago… It goes through the center of a mountain… On this mountain is one of the highest peaks in England called “The Devil’s Punch Bowl…” Me and the family stayed at a bed and breakfast there about 18 years ago… It’s prime real estate up there because its supposedly has the freshest air in England…
My Grandparents have a beautiful little place in #Waterlooville,England… It’s as charming as the name folks…
With little #culdesacs scattered in the middle of this beautiful country.. It is so gorgeous and peaceful it just may be the place I would like to retire… Well, for the warm #seasons at least…
There are miles and miles of #fields with #farms and sheep… Every direction you look is like a visual orgasm… It almost seems like the English build their homes around the trees and #nature, fearing ruining the beauty of the #landscape… Most of these houses are probably 100s of years old, which also helps the authenticity of the area…
And as you twist and turn around the tiny old fashioned roads, you will stumble upon little #Bed&BreakfastPubs like this one above… They look like giant #cottages and if it wasn’t for the signs, I would never guess they are actually pubs ready for business…
This here is a pub that’s just down the street from my Grandparents… My Granddad, Mum and I met with my Uncle Ken and his wife Theressa here for a Sunday roast… The food was delicious and I of course loved the beer…
We didn’t do a hell of a lot because of my Grandmother, who really can’t go out much anymore… It was more about hanging with them, watching their soaps and eating dinner… I did some small fix-ups around their house and cooked dinner one night…
It was great to see my Grandparents… They are such fun company and their love for each other gives you such hope in life… They have now been married more than 60 years! For their 60th wedding anniversary, the queen sent them a card signed by her… A huge honor! My grandparents are so proud of that card… I joke with them that if they stay alive until their 70th anniversary, they will probably get a visit from the queen herself!!!! lol!
They have the cutest little backyard… My Grandfather still keeps up with it, even at his age…
I couldn’t believe the size of the #pigeons out here! They are enormous… You can see this monster pigeon tucked behind the bush here…
I swear they are the size of chickens out here! I would definitely be looking at these birds as food if hard times hit… One pigeon is enough to feed a family of 8! Lol!
I know I’m obsessed with the damn thing but look at the size of it! What the hell are these things eating out here?
I can’t write about England and my Grandparents without talking about Timmy the #cat… I swear she is the best cat! As you can see she is very old… But don’t worry, she eats like a horse and loves company so until she becomes a starving recluse, I guess she has the right to live on… I think she stays alive for my Grandparents… Bless her little heart… as my Grandmother would say…
But looks are sometimes deceiving folks… Here’s Timmy checking out my iPhone… She purrs like an engine and loves to be pampered… Such a good little old kitty…
I know she has a male name! My Grandparents are old for Christ’s sake! They liked the name Timmy and the cat doesn’t seem to mind any… lol!
Here’s my awesome Grandparents catching a little shut eye after a good meal… It was so nice to see them and visit the country I was born in… Me and my Granddad drank all kinds of different #beers that he likes… God I love the beer in England… My new favorite is #FurstyFeret… you drink it at room temperature and it’s delicious…
We stayed for 6 days and were soon back in cold ass #Plymouth,Massachusetts… I don’t know how long I am going to last up here… The Millennium Falcon is taking one hell of a beating… I can’t seem to find a good, local #restaurant to work at… I’m contemplating heading south to #NorthCarolina where my cousin lives… At least the weather is better down there and finding a job in #Greensboro, which is a city, should be easier… But we will see…
