On the road again folks… I feel somewhat smarter, more experienced and humbled at the same time…. Never did I ever realize how much I could learn about myself and others through such strange, pretty much no choice situations… I have learned to hate the #Corporate world even more than ever now, confirming their slimy ways and giving me the needed affirmation to continue a relentless attack against them, as I fear the power they are gaining everyday and how us as Americans are practically handing them the throne through our disconnect from the world around us and our need for constant comfort with riches and conveniences… How’s that for a mouthful? I probably broke like 10 grammatical rules in that one sentence… yet the run along expresses the urgency to get through to this culture…
I hope the #legalization of #marijuana recreates that #AntiCorporate culture we used to love so much… It is the movement which already has the anti corporate roots already planted… That’s the #revolution we should be focusing on folks! Legalization will change this country drastically! In the states it is legal they are already seeing a drop in crime, hard drug use and alcoholism! I dare you to look up the statistics and challenge me on this one….
I have learned not to jump to conclusions about people and let them prove themselves over the course of a few weeks before you condemn them… lol… That was a hard lesson to learn and I had to swallow my pride when I was wrong… A great lesson which hurt at the time but was valuable in the end…
I feel I am on the path to do something great and am slowly accepting the idea of going to college and getting a #journalism degree… Why not? #Blogging about your #travels, bitching about #politics and questioning organized religion all fall into a journalism type job… I enjoy it and I want to have a big impact on this world, even if it’s writing for a small publication in East Ashcan somewhere…
I went to bed at 2am last night and woke up at 10am… I immediately jumped behind the wheel of #TheMillenniumFalcon and hit the road… I wanted to get to #L.A. by March 11th… I was eager to see my friends and start this new job in Death Valley… I had a few bucks reserved for the L.A. visit… I plan on stocking up on groceries and other things… I needed a haircut… OMG! I’m even boring myself here…
Here I am driving on my first day… I should have been more cautious about my outfit because I got pulled over in #Tennessee… Another cop with a uniform two sizes too small! I need to do a story on the #police uniform factories! They are really cutting back on the fabric here… These poor cops look like sausages stuffed into it’s intestinal skin! It’s an epidemic down south! Come on folks… can’t we put a fund together to encourage more fabric for our police officers’ uniforms? I’m worried some of these guys are not going to be able to reproduce considering the lack of room the uniform provides for his boys to breathe… Or maybe there’s a lot of room still in that area? That would explain the big gun… lol… just jokes folks!
Yeah, so I got pulled over… The cop asked if he could enter my vehicle… I thought for a moment and then allowed him… lol!
So, why was I pulled over in Tennessee? I wasn’t speeding… I wasn’t driving recklessly… Nope… The reason this cop gave me was “I coasted over the dotted line a couple of times…”
Really? I immediately answered that it was windy out and this is a 32 foot long #RV, which is hard to control at times… He smirked knowing I was aware of why he really pulled me over but that didn’t stop the interrogation… It was obvious to both of us that I was pulled over because of my #California plates… He followed me for a good ten minutes before he pulled me over which suggests he was looking for something to pull me over for…
But I was candid and optimistic… We exchanged some light banter and then the inevitable question came… “Do you have any drugs in your car?” Then he went on to specifics… “I know you are from California, so I have to ask…” I smirked at the obvious question… He smirked back… There was almost this unsaid dialogue going on through our expressions which told the true story… “I want to bust you for pot!” is what he was essentially saying… “Fuck you” was essentially what I was responding with… lol…
I replied “ I’m not going to lie to you sir and say I don’t smoke pot and as soon as I get to California I am going to buy some… But as for now, I don’t travel with drugs in my RV… That would be just plain stupid… especially around here…” I kept eye contact and was polite… He then thanked me for my time and sent me on my way…
I was soon back on the road and was aware that I had to be very cautious through these #RedStates… They thrive on busting us criminal #PotHeads who do so much bad to this country… What a fucking joke…
I’m proud to say I drove right on throughout the day… A good 14 hour drive… I felt great and relieved to be traveling again… I love these traveling alone times, they really give me the opportunity to think things through… I think about my past, present and future… I get angry, upset, happy, delusional… all those fun things while I listen to my classic rock trudging down the #highway..
.
Flags were at half mast paying tribute to the life of #NancyRaegan… great lady but I never played into that infatuating look she always gave her husband… I found it to be staged and put on for the saps who actually believe a marriage is so perfect… The images actually make me uncomfortable and always did when I was a kid… I now know that it was my youthful talent to immediately sense bullshit but I just was not old enough to realize what that feeling was… I got that same feeling when they posted those pictures again on #CNN… No offense but it’s just a little too fairytale, storybook for my liking… Sorry #conservatives…
I drove util 2am… I decided I would not stop until I got out of Tennessee… I definitely was not stopping overnight in this state for obvious reasons… I got out of Tennessee around 8pm and drove until I couldn’t anymore… I pulled over at a #Walmart and slept for 8 hours… The next morning, I showered and hit the road again…
And wouldn’t you know that I would get pulled over in #Arkansas also… And to silence my critics, this cop pulled me over for the same exact thing! He even followed me for a little longer… I guess to make sure I coasted over that middle line more than once…
Just to give you some information on why this reason to pull me over is completely full of shit… When you are on the highway again, get behind a large truck or RV… Watch how many times they cross the median… Not only do you have about a foot of clearance on each side because your truck is wide as fuck, it is virtually impossible to stay between the lines around curves considering the lack of clearance…
This cop had to follow me for more than 10 minutes to witness me crossing over the lines… Which proves he is following me because of my plates and wants to pull me over hoping to get a drug charge! It’s o.k. though because if I ever do get arrested, my lawyer would have a hay day with this bullshit reason to pull me over…
It was the same old scenario… If I wasn’t in a different state I would swear I was living a real life “Groundhog Day” here! The cop basically looked the same with the under sized uniform… He asked the same questions and took part in some light banter with me… He alluded carefully to the question he was really pulling me over for… I gave him the same washed up answer I gave the other cop… Then he left… Oh what a ridiculous charade for a plant that is harmless and not altered from it’s original form… Grow up America!!!!! Please!!!!!!
Here’s the Millennium Falcon parked at a #Love’s… I really like the Love’s gas stations… They seem to have the best priced gas and all of the luxuries a traveler needs on his road stops…. A little shout out to them… Not that they need it!
I made quick time through #Oklahoma and was soon in #Texas and dreading it… If Tennessee and Arkansas pulled me over, what is this state going to do? So I immediately decided to barrel through this state and not stop until I was in friendlier territory… If that exists down here! Damn hick states!
It was another long day of driving and my birthday was tomorrow…
I pulled over at another Walmart, had a nice meal and went to bed… There’s my porch light turned on so I can get back into my vehicle without any hassle… Tomorrow was my birthday and I was the only place I would want to be on this ridiculous day of celebrations… And that’s alone on the road!
Happy Birthday to me… Happy Birthday to me… Why are we celebrating my birthday?… Happy Birthday to me…
Oh, how I have learned to despise birthdays… Not only is the attention ridiculous, just because I was born on this day, the whole ritual just reminds me now that I am getting older and more out of touch… I hate birthdays folks… I got a lot of #Facebook messages and a message from my aunt but other than that, I would have never known it was my birthday… and that’s how I like it… When I do something important and mind blowing, then you all can celebrate my birth… As for now, it’s just another day… lol!
It was a good birthday though… Probably one of my favorites… I spent the day with the earth that essentially created me…
Experiencing it’s mightiness while listening to the lessons it is trying to teach me…
A brand new relationship has formed over the last year… my year of 40… I have developed this great relationship with the country that surrounds me… To think I ignored all of this beauty up until now… Actually I hated traveling until I bought the #Falcon…
Now, I don’t know what to do with out this world around me… It has centered me but at the same time woken me up about the really important issues we face…
I have found a new respect for this world which no amount of money could ever buy… And it took the lack of money and hardships to really appreciate this world around me…
Here I am leaving #NewMexico and entering #Arizona…
If The Millennium Falcon didn’t break down I would probably be still camping around the U.S… But without the hardships I would have never experienced this working world where you can make money and still enjoy the beauty that surrounds us… The trials and tribulations provided balance for me, showing me how I can incorporate my new found love for travel and make a living at the same time…
Even though I had to work at these different resorts, I never felt trapped… With the open world around you, customers who are happily on #vacation and jobs that pay you what you are worth… How could you ever feel trapped? And the fact you can just leave for another a job if things don’t go your way provides that sense of freedom I was not getting living in the city… And you know what’s the best about it all, when I work, most of the money is mine…
I have no rent… I have hardly any bills and my home is pretty inexpensive to maintain… Well, that’s when she isn’t breaking down in #Kansas… But even with those major setbacks I am still better off than paying rent in a city…
A little Indian shop I stopped in when I entered Arizona… They had hand made bow and arrows! I wanted to buy one so badly but the price was quite steep… Maybe in the future sometime… I would love to get a kill with one of these contraptions… That would definitely improve my status as a camper… especially if I prepare the kill as a meal all by myself… That blog will hopefully be coming soon!
I don’t think I could have found a better way to transition into a another way of life which I obviously felt was necessary… This midlife crisis has become one of the most remarkable growth periods I have ever gone through… I am now actually happy and proud of my age and aging… I find that my knowledge has become quite vast, across different spectrums due to my constant hunger to try new things and fight for a better way of life…
Growing up is not an easy thing to do folks… But at some point you have to look at your life and asses if you like it or not… If you don’t then do something about it! It will be hard, you will hit obstacles and I know most people my age have others to take care of… But just little baby steps in the right direction do so much to improve your life… Get out there and climb a mountain… walk a trail… be vulnerable and let the answers come to you…. No Expectations!!!!
I can tell you this from personal experience… It has been far from easy but I can confidently say that this past year, at the age of 40, has been the most remarkable year ever in my life… I have now become fully self aware and aware of the world around me… I now know what I want, how I want it and what steps I have to take to get closer to that reality… My #ideology is set and confident… My #theology is set and confident… I can confidently go into any conversation and explain why or why I don’t like the topic we are talking about…
And I owe all of this to the world around me…I went out with many questions and have come back with most of them answered… can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store for me!
I was soon in #California folks! I got into #L.A. at around 10pm and immediately hit the #MedicalShop for some goodies… My little birthday present to myself… I got an edible and two ounces of good old #bud called SOS… Happy Birthday Daniel!!! Oh what a sleep I had that night!!!!
