Well folks… It looks like my bad luck got even worse… The starter was not the problem on #TheMillenniumFalcon and this is not going to be an easy fix… One of the mechanics came into their break room where I was finishing up the last few days of my blog and informed me the engine is all ceased up…
Honestly, at this point I was not shocked… I was really angry and that defeatist attitude soon crept in… So, I told the mechanic I had to go take a walk and figure out what I am going to do next…
You don’t see one of these everyday! WTF! I couldn’t even guess at the purpose of this vehicle… I’m sure it has something to do with farming… lol…
Folks, this walking thing is amazing… You ever have any problems and don’t know how to handle them, go for a walk… Trust me, you will get your answers… Maybe not on the first walk but the answers will come…
I couldn’t resist taking a picture of this amazing hawk swooping through the sky… He was flying around me a good majority of the walk… I walked down the road and screamed out into the open for anyone who wanted to listen… I exploded into anger, asking why this is happening to me!
The mechanics informed me that the #TheFalcon would take at least 3 weeks to fix. They needed to take the engine out and send her to be rebuilt and then reinstall it. The mechanic told me it would take at least 3 weeks and that’s if everything works out correctly… You all know my luck so I don’t expect it to work out perfectly… Actually at this point, I expect no less than a complete disaster…
Now, the big question is… What do I do for these 3 or more weeks? I thought about going camping for the three weeks… They had a campground that is local… John told me I could pop a tent there and live for three weeks… The Falcon was out of the question… they told me they couldn’t have someone living out of the camper for three weeks, which I totally understood…
But then it came to me after about a half hour of walking…. Seeing that hawk swoop through the air freely made me realize something… Why am I allowing an unforeseen tragedy steer my life? It’s my life right? I am the one in the driver’s seat right? Or at least that’s what I have been made to believe…
So, why am I not going to the destination I had already planned out…. I called Chris at the cafe and told him I couldn’t come because my RV was broken down once again… Chris sounded so disappointed and I felt so guilty for letting him down… So, I figured, why not call him back and ask him if he could provide some housing for me and I will still come and work…
Well… I’m glad I called back because Chris told me he now had plenty of housing and would shack me up for no charge what so ever….
So, I rented a car and decided to make good on my commitment… I know I don’t look too happy here and for good reason but here I am in my #EnterpriseRental car about 10 hours away from #TaylorPark in #Colorado… It was a huge hassle because no one was renting any cars due to lack of availability but I soon found an Enterprise in #JunctionCity,KS… John’s wife was nice enough to give me a ride and I made it just before closing… It was a dramatic process but I am used to such struggles by now…
So I hit 70W with a new journey and a new vehicle…. It was 6:30pm by the time I got on the road and I planned to drive the whole 10 hours to TheColoradoDreamRanch… I figured I would just sleep in my rental car and meet my new friends in the morning…
As I drove I witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets in my life as the sun flirted with the clouds… hiding and exposing itself in a playful fashion… My journey had changed once again but my objective didn’t… I was throwing all caution and reason up into the air not knowing what tomorrow would bring…
I admit I am very nervous and am completely confused about this whole situation but soon I will be up in those mountains and I’m sure some answers will reveal themselves as I travel my new journey…
I arrived at #TheColoradoDreamRanch at 4:00 am… I didn’t even drive up their long road and quickly found a place to park my car and catch some zzzz’s…. I was so exhausted and extremely nervous about my new life for 5 weeks… I have decided to work here for the season and then pick up #Millie on Sept 13th when it’s all over…
Then we will see what is the next stop on this crazy trip… I’m sure I will be a little bit wiser by then….
