Here’s my new job folks… I guess they were working so understaffed before I got here, some people were in dyer need of a day off.. So yes folks, #TheTravelingMac did a double… I had to be at #TheNuggetCafe at 7:45 am…. I slept like a log and it was a little hard to get out of bed in the morning but apart of me was excited and curious to start this new adventure…

I learned quickly last night and ended up taking quite a few tables…. When I got here this morning, I felt confident enough to tackle a busy #breakfast… Now, I haven’t really served breakfast but did a lot of weekend brunches in #L.A… With all those idiots modifying every damn thing on the #menu, I think I can handle some volume with less picky people…

One of the other servers John was there… He is a 50 year old musician who has played with a lot of bands in his life… He has a cabin out in the middle of nowhere and works 3 months out of the year to pay all of his bills off… You know my ears shot up when I heard this… A possible future plan for The Traveling Mac!

They hooked me up with a pretty nice room which is above the #restaurant… It was clean, right next to the bathroom and was also free… I basically don’t have to worry about rent, food or much of anything out here… I just have to work and make money… All of the profits go to the fixing of #TheMillenniumFalcon…

Now, I was a little worried about how much money The Nugget Cafe would put out… They don’t serve alcohol and the prices are not that high… But my worries were soon put to rest when the breakfast crowd came in… It was quite busy and people just wanted to eat and get out of there…

So, even though you are getting small #tips because the prices are so low, you are making all of your money with volume… I swear, I sat the same table three times in one breakfast shift and by the time it was over, I saw some good profit… I won’t say #breakfast was easy but it sure was fun… by the time it was over I felt like it was all a dream… The only proof it even happened was the money in my pocket… I can’t think of a better situation to be in while #TheFalcon is in the hospital… I can work my ass off here and most probably make all the money for repairs…

#Lunch was another good shift… The only things I am struggling with is writing the tickets correctly for the #kitchen… These guys operate off of abbreviations and if you don’t get them right, it slows down the kitchen… So what I would do is write my orders down on a sticky note and then translate them into abbreviations on the actual ticket… It was very time consuming but listening to the kitchen gripe and moan was not a better alternative… As a #waiter of 16 years I know it’s crucial to have a good relationship with the kitchen… If you don’t your job will just be harder…

By #Dinner time I felt like a pro… I made a few minor mistakes here and there but nothing major at all… I’m not a person who focuses on money at all but I have to say I was relieved to see that I was making more than I thought I would… And if I keep up this pace, I could possibly pay off my whole #mechanic’s bill and have extra to tackle my newly inflated credit card bill after… By now I realize I should just work all the way through the #holiday #season and continue my trip in January… I am finding this traveling waiter gig is quite lucrative… There is a good chance I could pay off all of my debt by Christmas and maybe… just maybe have enough left over to live off of for the first few months of my postponed trip…

Well, the normal evening soon ended with an emergency air lift to the hospital…. Don’t worry, it wasn’t me… I guess some older guest up here had a stroke and we are so out in the middle of nowhere they had to helicopter lift the gentleman to the hospital… Wow!

I know it’s crazy but I had to experience the take off… You always see the people in the movies holding onto their hats as wind twirls while the helicopter takes off… I had to experience it first hand and of course had to take pictures… It was pretty amazing watching this gigantic machine take flight as I held onto my hat battling the mighty wind it created…

What an introduction to #TheColoradoMountains! I have been here only one day and already I have experienced so much…

When the chopper was gone I headed back to #TheNuggetCafe… I couldn’t help thinking, on my short walk back, about how new this place is too me and how familiar it will be in 5 weeks… I have always moved around all of my life, never staying in one place more than 3 years when I was a kid… I became acustomed to feeling this way over the years knowing how we adapt and make places like these our homes…

It’s like picking up a fresh new book you know nothing about and enjoying it for a month… You become attached to the book becoming more familiar with it and enjoying it’s twist and turns as you read it… You get to know the characters better everyday and soon decide who you see eye to eye with and who you don’t… At times the book gets boring or you are just not in the mood for the book but when you finish that book, you find yourself missing the #journey… That book becomes apart of your #life… A memory of a great experience…

I am excited to say I am at the beginning of my book in #Colorado and am looking forward to getting to know the characters and what the story brings… I know it may be hard at times and I just may not like it at all… But regardless of my feelings this book will end… Very soon I will be looking back on this adventure as it becomes another chapter in the book I call The Traveling Mac’s crazy life…
