IMG 5047

Woke up this morning to a chilly, clear day… I had to work breakfast and lunch… Mike relieved me at 2pm…

IMG 5050

While I was working, around noon time, I got to catch a short #storm that came through… I know I keep on posting #pictures of the #mountains and the area where I live but these occurrences are so beautiful, I can’t help but take pictures…

IMG 5051

You can see the #clouds coming in and slowly starting to engulf #MatchlessMountain… You can also see how busy I was today… Realizing #LaborDay was right around the corner, I decided to enjoy the slowness by observing this storm…

IMG 5053

All of the sudden you couldn’t even see the mountains anymore…

IMG 5059

As most storms are up here this time of season, it was short and quick…

IMG 5060

I love how #TaylorPark looks just after it has rained… It looks almost magical with the lights reflecting off of the wet pavement… You almost want to go and skate on the glass like looking surface…

IMG 5061

You can see the clouds already starting to lift up above the mountains once again…

IMG 5062

You can see how dead #TheColoradoDreamRanch was… Not a soul outside… No cars… No engines roaring…

IMG 5064

It is so peaceful up here right after it rains… Everyone is hunkered in their #cabins, waiting to go back out and play…

IMG 5065

But I will not be fooled… I know this #peace will come to its end tomorrow, as all of the locals and #vacationers head out for one last ride up those mountains before the whole area closes for the #winter…

IMG 5067

People still come up to #hunt and #fish… You can still rent a cabin and go into the #TradingPost for some needed supplies…

IMG 5627

But you will see signs like these as the family gets their chores done getting ready for a harsh, relentless winter… They had a stack of these signs stating who to find for service… I thought this was funny for some reason and had to take a picture of it…

IMG 5068

Then it just dries up and it’s almost like it never rained at all…

IMG 5074

It dries up so quickly around here with the dry air…

IMG 5081

It was so nice out after work, I decided to go on a short #hike…

IMG 5087

Remember those @Bulls I followed to a path where they turned left? Well, I felt it was time to go see if I could find anymore of those mushrooms John and I saw on our hike up #ParkConeMountain…

IMG 5086

Not that I had any plan to eat or give them to others… I am just mystified how these #shrooms grow out of #CowPoop and give you a natural #psychedelic affect… Why the cow poop? Why can you only find most of them at #HighAltitudes…

IMG 5088

I’m obsessed with all #mushrooms after I saw a program on how a couple lives off of certain edible mushrooms that are served in #restaurants… Why not make a few bucks while I am hiking if I stumble across these mushrooms… So I grabbed my friend Griffin and we went up to do some exploring…

IMG 5089

He burrowed one of the girl’s cars who worked there and we drove up to my suspected location…

IMG 5090IMG 5091

Folks, I love it when a hunch comes about to be confirmed by discoveries like these! It was just the beginning of #MushroomSeason and already I was finding poop with mushrooms growing out of it and they were all over… Everywhere folks! We had found a gold mine!

IMG 5092

Now, naturally I considered that these mushrooms were everywhere up here! Not that I had found a gold mine but I couldn’t have been more wrong…

IMG 5093

You see, the reason there was so much cow poop here and so many mushrooms was because I had found the perfect spot, where the cows meet and change direction to get where ever they are going… Once you walked away from this 300 yard area, you would see cow poop but no shrooms… I had found a gold mine and was quite proud of myself theorizing this exact location with no knowledge what so ever about these mushrooms…

Now folks, I know it is Federally illegal to cultivate or distribute these mushrooms and for good reason… If you are not an expert on picking mushrooms, you could easily eat the wrong ones and get very sick or even die… So, I just took pictures and observed these little #MagicalCreatures… I would then go and look them up on the web when I got into town…

I can’t say I wasn’t actually contemplating on picking some of these babies but determined it was too dangerous to attempt… I’m not saying that none of my friends experimented but I myself, did not… The shrooms you usually buy on the black market are not #wild… They are cultivated by experts and the #spores are bought online… But it is still highly illegal to be caught with shrooms considering their lethal qualities when eating the wrong type… I will continue to learn about edible and #PsychedelicMushrooms because it is something I have always been interested in… I love to eat edilble mushrooms and would love to have something to do while exploring….

But until they find a full proof way of distributing the psychedelic ones, I will stay away from them… I don’t think psychedelic mushrooms are dangerous themselves, when taken correctly but I do fear the ones that kill you and resemble the good ones… I think anything that is natural and doesn’t kill you, is free game considering there are things legal, like alcohol, that do kill you but is socially accepted…

Regardless, it was an amazing find and supports my theory that these mountains just keep on giving and giving… I love it up here!!!!
