Today it was really busy and I got called in early, around 12… I am working doubles for the next three days, so that should be fun…. I’m starting to get a little more used to the #altitude but it has really thrown me for a loop… My whole body is off kilter now and everything is working all out of whack… I brought my #NutriBullet so I’m still having my #VegetableConcoction every morning, which helps… Chris lets me raid the salad and fruit bar to get my healthy fix… I think they all perceive me as this healthy liberal nut but I seem to get along with everyone so far…

I found out that there has been some problems here in the past with #staff…. That’s why they have such a hard time keeping people… I do admit it is a hard job but the thing that keeps me going is the fact it will be over in a few weeks… Not like I have much a choice anyway… It’s either make money here or sit in #Kansas while they fix #TheMillenniumFalcon… I guess there have been a few fights out here amongst staff and some sketchy things happening out of work… But you expect such when you have everyone living and working together…

You don’t get the most innocent people on this planet when you hire for the #season only… It’s not like I didn’t expect this considering I have been in similar situations with similar people when I served in the military… The only difference is that I was a lot younger then and didn’t have the tools and experience to deal with this type of drama… Now I am a little better equipped and have found avoiding such drama isn’t that hard as long as you don’t get sucked into it… I just avoid conflict at all costs and try to kill everyone with kindness… I found the hardest part is not getting sucked into the #PoliticalDebates… But when I do, I am polite and try to use reason instead of force… you know I can’t keep my mouth shut all of the time, especially when it comes to #politics but somehow I have kept it clean and civil for now….

I have to admit a part of me doesn’t feel really safe here and after hearing some pretty crazy stories, I know now I need to keep my guard up… I already had one worker claim he’s going to punch me when he gets off of probation and for no reason what so ever…  We were just sitting and talking at one of the cabins and he decided to allude to this craziness… I just ignored him and stared at him blankly for a moment… The subject soon changed after an awkward silence, when I gave him no response…

I find this to be a great test for me because the old #TravelingMac would have responded to such threats and it would have probably escalated… But I find such displays of power useless and weak…. I have found if you just work hard and treat everyone as your equal, you pretty much avoid any of these unnecessary conflicts… I’m not saying it’s easy but I find swallowing your pride is the better solution… I choose to show my reliability and respect instead of battling for it with words… My actions and attitude is enough for them to see what I’m all about, speaking about it just opens doors for criticism and conflict…

When they start to attack my actions, that’s when words will come handy as a defense because all I have to do is confirm what I have already  shown instead of trying to live up to what I have stated or bragged to be… A very hard lesson to learn and it has taken me 40 years to reach this level of maturity… I see some of the others making such mistakes and every time the other workers make them pay for it…

God, dealing with different people is such a chore… It almost makes me want to go hide out in the woods somewhere but it’s apart of life I guess… If anyone figures out what this is all for, please let me know… The way I see it now, is just a bunch of idiots trying to interact and get along on an already volatile planet… Sometimes I feel even speaking is a huge waste of time…

So, I worked all evening and got a short break to enjoy the end of a beautiful sunset… Look at those clouds above the #mountains! How can you be angry with such a backyard which is free by the way… The more and more I travel, the more I have become convinced that the only peace in this world is out in that #nature… I really do want to co-exist with others but the solitude is so much more inviting and seems so much easier….

I guess a main part of this trip is trying to find that balance between nature and people… I believe my own achieved balance will be more of nature and less of people… As of now that is… I really do feel I am going to learn some valuable lessons for the future at #TheNuggetCafe…
