It’s #SundayBrunch folks!!! I am fortunately not working Brunch but I of course come down every morning to get a good old cup of Joe… Above is a big chunk of roasted beef which you can get with your #omelets and #waffles… Look at that piece of meat! I of course had to carve off a piece for myself and boy was it delicious… I certainly am not starving at #TaylorPark and this #altitude makes you hungry as shit… Everyday is a constant battle of trying to avoid delicious specials and my worst enemy of all, fresh made #pies…

I have become the #PieMaster at #TheNuggetCafe folks! I am the one who gets the honor of cutting all of the pies and plating the pieces… We do this because it gets so busy, cutting the pies as we go along will of course slow us down… And let me tell you, these #southerners love their pie… We sometimes go through 10 pies in one day! Chris is constantly baking pies to keep up with the demand…

Now, the benefit of being the pie cutter, or the demise I should say, is that all of the residual pie left over has to go somewhere and I’m sure you know where it goes… Damn straight… right into my #PieHole! They are so delicious I have to give away some of the residual pans because I will literally eat them all and become a fat slob!

One of the first things I do when I come in for my shift is cut pies! I really enjoy cutting perfectly clean, huge pieces that look like they should be on the front cover of a pie porn magazine! It’s one of my favorite things to do even if I decide not to eat any that day, which rarely happens… It’s almost #meditative… I actually make up pie songs as I work, taking regular classic songs and replacing the lyrics with “pie” where it seems to fit… I am obsessed with these pies!

Above is a picture of my favorite pie at the #Cafe… The #MixBerryPie! It has a mixture of apple, strawberry and blackberry! Boy is it delicious and no matter how much I eat, I can’t ever seem to get sick of it… We also have blueberry, peach, apple and cherry flavors that are just as good… And if you like, we can put a scoop of vanilla bean ice-cream on top for a small additional charge of $1! Not many who come in can resist such deliciousness… That’s why it’s so hard to keep up with these pie eating freaks… lol…

So, a little about my #MorningRitual… I of course like to work nights here for one sole reason only and that’s because I like to write during the day… I actually love working #breakfast the most because it seems like a dream when it’s over but my writing takes precedence over everything… Convenience and money never factor in when it comes to my art… Most of the time you actually make a little more money in the mornings but that does not lure me in…

I get up around 8am now… I have become accustomed to going to bed around 11 or 12 and waking up at 8am… Working breakfast and those three doubles set my new schedule and I am loving it!  Working in the restaurant industry for 16 years has really made me accustomed to going to bed late at night and waking up late in the morning… It’s nice to work at a place that forces you into a regular 9 to 5 schedule where you wake up early and go to bed at a decent time… I would love to continue this when I leave but that of course depends on what my new work schedule will be…

So, I get up and head right on down to #TheNuggetCafe… First, I usually admire my surroundings for a few minutes… Mornings in the #mountains is nothing short of gorgeous… Sometimes you wake up to fog covering the the peaks or a mist that floats right below the mountains… By afternoon this fog will be all gone but when it’s here it gives off this amazing damp feeling with a smell of a fresh morning… I literally jump out of bed, looking forward to getting out and seeing what #nature has to show me in the morning…

Then I go into The Nugget Cafe and get a #CupOfJoe… The #staff has their own coffee pot which we of course make really strong by doubling up the #coffee… I also bring over my #nutri-bullet and fill it up with fruits and vegetables from the salad bar… Yes folks, of course I brought the bullet with me… I wouldn’t be the same without my #VegetableConcoction in the morning…

Then I head up to my room and #write until I am ready to start my shift at two… This is my usual ritual every morning when I am not working breakfast and it’s a really effective approach… I have been writing like a maniac up here and I can’t type fast enough for the stories that are coming about in my crazy head… I am so creative up here and feel it just getting better as I become more accustomed to my new invigorating #environment… I can’t even imagine how I will be after I hike #MatchlessMountain! I’m telling you, there are answers up there and I know I am going to benefit from them…. They may not be as simple as conscious answers but they are up there if you are listening…

After I have written for a few hours, I will hop in the shower and get ready for work… I always like to go in early and get something to eat or go visit some of my new friends for a pre-work smoke circle… lol… Then I work till close, hang for a little while wherever and then go to bed…

I may be working my ass off here but I am loving every minute of it… Never has writing been so simple for me because there was always some other problem to tackle… But out here, with no internet, no phone and no car, life has become a lot more simpler for me… #TaylorPark is teaching me some new valuable lessons out here… Thank God situations forced me into coming up here… Taylor Park just may be one of the biggest turning points in my life! I know the attitude is turning around for the good…
