So, last night I decided to move above the #TaylorPark Gift Shop with John… He has a two bedroom #cabin above the shop… It’s really nice and this is the view I woke up to this morning… Look at those clouds below the #mountains! The building to the left is #TheNuggetCafe, so you can see where I am living now… I used to live above the cafe… It was just too noisy at night and then the morning crowd would wake me up really early, so I feel this cabin will suit my needs a little better…

So, I immediately went to work for my last shift of three doubles in a row… The Cafe opens at 8am and closes at 8pm, then we do side work until around 9- 9:30pm… So it’s quite a long shift, especially when it’s super busy, which it has been since I have arrived…
No matter how much I work it’s worth having these #mountains as a backyard… It is so peaceful and serene up here that not even the ridiculous noise of the #ATV’s and #DirtBikes can ruin such peaceful surroundings… Just knowing if I take a good 4 hour hike I will be away from it all is enough to settle my nerves… I can stand and stare at these mountains all day! It’s like #meditating looking at them… You feel so small and insignificant… it eases my mind that their are forces on this planet that not even man and his technology can compete with…
I think of all the miners and developers who tear down such beauty for a quick fix of money… It reminds me of one of my favorite sayings “A penny wise, a pound foolish…” That’s the saying I think of when these big greedy business men destroy our planet for short capital gain… Essentially they are picking pennies from this earth and ruining it for the future. Where, if they respected mother earth and did it sensibly, they would end up with a good ally to live on for 100’s of years to come… When you choose the quick financial gain over protecting the planet you live on, that’s the same as looking at the penny and forgetting the longterm dollar in my eyes… But that’s how I see all of these greedy, powerful assholes…. All they care about is their money, that doesn’t exist really… It’s man made folks… Without man, we have no money… It represents trade, production and labor… Yet we choose this made up monetary system over our own people and a beautiful #planet that we should #worship instead of destroying…

It was a long shift today… I was still battling the #altitude but it was much better… I haven’t gotten a ton of sleep and working all of the time is starting to take a toll on me… I am really anxious to explore this amazing town so after my breakfast shift tomorrow I will take a short hike, to clear and reset the mind…

It started raining in the late afternoon and we were blessed with this phenomenal site… If you look close enough you will see a double #rainbow… God this place just gets more gorgeous and inspiring everyday I spend here… I may be working hard but I feel like I am on a #vacation… Whenever I feel down or overwhelmed I just look outside… Then those feelings just fade away knowing that these mountains are out here… Your problems just seem so small and everyday life is so frivolous compared to these mighty, massive old-timers…

All of this happens naturally and with no rhyme or reason to it… At anytime I can be knocked down by these natural occurrences that could be paintings hung up in a museum…
I have never really worked in a cafe before… I have always worked in upscale places… I guess you could say the closest to a cafe job was when I worked at #CarolinesOnBroadway, which is an upscale #ComedyClub… It’s way more upscale than a cafe but was very high volume like the job I am working at now… I like #TheNuggetCafe job because you don’t have to be fancy… These folks just want to come in, eat and get back to riding around and making noise… Which is fine with me…
I have to say these #southerners are not the best of #tippers… Especially the #Texans and we get a ton of those jerks up here… Not a big fan of Texans… I find the majority very self absorbed and down right rude but luckily The Nugget Cafe is so high volume that those 5% and 10% tips do add up…
I’m not going to be cliche and start complaining about tips but folks we do live off of your #gratuity… If the waiter does a good job, give him or her at least 15%… I know you think you’re doing a favor by giving us a tip but really you are paying for a service… You’re not doing anyone a favor… If I go into a #cafe and just drink coffee I leave at least 5 bucks, especially if I have taken up their table for an hour… The time you spend at the table also factors into what you leave… Just because you ordered just a coffee doesn’t mean you didn’t take up the table for an hour or so… Just a little advice to the southern assholes who think my job is a joke…
Mike, one of the waiters, actually had a hick tell him he was a pussy because he waits tables… Mike ignored it and continued on, which is probably the best thing to do… But I do wish I had that man as a customer because I would have given him a speech he would have never forgotten… I wouldn’t have been confrontational because I don’t believe in engaging violently with these idiots… That’s what they want essentially… I would have just beaten him down with sense and logic… Something these dickheads don’t have much of… I know waiting tables isn’t the most glamorous and manly of jobs but I am certainly not going to let some toothless hick put his ignorant, uneducated ass above mine… Oh hell no!

After my shift, I headed to my new home… Here’s a shot of #TaylorPark at around 9:30pm… This place is so gorgeous… Once again the only thing that ruins it is some of the people… Folks, just like Los Angeles, which is pretty much a perfect place to live weather wise, you can always count on the people to screw up a good thing… But then again, that’s what makes this country so damn interesting and fun to travel… Goodnight…
