Here’s my new schedule folks!!!! Very excited on my first day…
Now blogs can be deceiving about when pictures were taken and of course I wasn’t running around on my first day taking pictures of my new job… The pictures posted here are from a breakfast I worked in the future and had a little extra time to snap a few shots…

I entered my new job through the #EDR… I would soon find out EDR was short for Employee Dining Room… Yes folks, we actually have our own dining room here with food prepared just for the employees at #StovepipeWellsVillage… Never have I had such catering at a job… lol… They do breakfast, lunch and dinner for us and the food is pretty decent with an employee salad bar if you don’t want what is on the menu that day…
#StovepipeWells charges us for our #lodging in #Desert… It’s fifty dollars a week for an #RVSite or room with a roommate… This includes cable folks! Yes, I have cable!!! I haven’t had cable in like 7 years… Oh my… you know what that means… #TheTravelingMac is going to have access to #CNN… Very dangerous and I know I don’t have the will power to resist… I’m sure I will get sick of it after awhile and many #political outbursts performed by yours truly… Hell, #StovepipeWells may get rid of the cable after they experience what CNN does to this #Libtard!!! Lol!

I was greeted by a very friendly Eddie who was my trainer for the day… I had to arrive at 3pm and was taken through the arduous setup… I was skeptical at first but then realized it would be nice to just come in and set up before being ravaged by the hungry patrons of #DeathValley…

This is the #kitchen… It’s very large and has quite the menu to follow…
Eddie was very quick with showing me the setup… I felt he had done this many times before and was tired of training new folk like me… He had his music on his iPhone playing as he flew through the training… He told me about how busy it was here lately, which I found was odd this time of year… But Death Valley and the #desert had a lot of #rain this year causing this rare #BloomOfFlowers to extend all the way through to the end of spring… This has attracted many from around the #world to come early and experience the #FlowersInTheDesert… I got to see some of these flowers and it was like blankets of different colors covering an otherwise very blank terrain… I can see why people make a point to come out here early…

So here’s a quick tour of my new job… I had been scheduled to work the dining room, which was fine with me… My schedule is 3pm to close or 5pm to close… All in the dining room… I hope to get a 3- close schedule 5 days a week… I love the night hours and this place stops serving at 9pm!!! Wow!!! It’s busy as hell, we make money and I get out around 10 when my side work is done… You had me at 9pm #StovepipeWellsVillage…
Above is the entrance to the dining room… I am standing at the host stand taking this picture… I love that there is this old fashioned wooden barricade bar that keeps the door locked…

Here’s the front part of the dining room… #Waiter’sSection 1 & 2 are here… Basically split down the middle… The #servers at night clean and reset the tables, so you don’t have to worry about such things when setting up…
If you look at the back wall you will see #MoviePosters… All of these movies had scenes shot right here in Death Valley! And yes, all three #StarWars movies are up there… The original three of course… I wouldn’t even mention the other three monstrosities…

Here’s the back half of the dining room… You can vaguely make out the “Star Wars” posters for #ANewHope and #EmpireStrikesBack!” The first “Star Wars” had a lot of the #Tatoine scenes shot over at the #DeathValleySandDunes… And the whole #R2D2 sequence where he is captured by #Jawas was shot in Death Valley also… You know I am extremely excited about all of this!

Right when you walk past the host stand there is a hallway to your left which leads to the #Pub and the only Bar at Stovepipe Wells… When breakfast is served in the room behind the dining room, they gate off the bar so no one wanders in there… Kind of a scary picture really… Looks like something out of a #WesternHorrorFilm…

Yes folks, #TheTollRoadRestaurant has it’s own #waterfall… Immediately I thought of dying the water red like blood for #halloween!!! How cool would that be?? The walls are bleeding!!! LOL! Like a scene out of #TheShining!

The whole place is littered with old fashioned trinkets and fire places… Everywhere you look there is a shovel hanging, old iron spikes, cattle prodders, old pottery, ect… I think I could work here for years and still find new things to look at or admire… A very welcoming restaurant with a lot of nostalgia… I love places like this! It makes the whole place feel less #corporate…

This shot is taken behind the waterfall…. You can see the entrance with a glimpse of the hostess stand to the far right… The 1st and 2nd waiter sections are to the left and if I was to go directly left, opposite the waterfall, you would see waiter sections 3 and 4… The first day was kind of intimidating considering the size and scale of this place… I was very curious to see how it all worked when busy…

This section, which is way in the back of the Toll Road restaurant is where breakfast is served and if it gets really busy at night or we have a big party, the extra folk sit back here… The breakfast is #Buffet style… you can see the permanent buffet set up along the wall… Pretty damn fancy #StovepipeWells!

And here is where all of the behind the scenes magic happens… #TheServerStation… When you are enjoying each other at the table there is a server running around frantically back here, trying to make sure your visit is pleasurable… It’s not much of a station but does the job… lol!

Last but not least, here’s the food line… Very clean and basic… The #cooks do their magic behind the metal counter while the #waiters come in and pick up the food, which is ready and sitting on the line..

Well, this perfectly serene scene became total chaos… The cute host stand soon became mobbed with hopeful hungry patrons looking for some grub in the vast, uninviting desert… #NPS (National Park Services,) who own the land, make it a requirement that all three meals are served at this location so they can clamp down on the deaths out here in Death Valley…

Yes folks, every year people die out here because they underestimate one of the most #VolatileEnvironments on this planet… I don’t mean to joke but if you are heading into a place called Death Valley, then you better come prepared! Take nothing for granted but know that Stovepipe Wells Village will always have a meal for you regardless… Even if the power goes out they have to provide box lunches at a cheap price for all visitors… Something they take very seriously!

Well folks, this was the result of the evening… I didn’t get a before picture but this ticket stabber was near empty and by 9pm it was completely full… Looks like a good place to work even though it’s a lot of running around and a lot of ground to cover…
I followed Eddie for the evening… It’s chaotic and everyone seems to come in towards the end but the staff seems to know what they are doing… You only serve for like 4 hours really but those 4 hours are quite crazy… Everything seems pretty organized if you have the right person setting up… It seems like you have a lot of prep work but it comes in handy when the storm hits… I guess I should be thankful I have found a place where I make really good money but don’t have to work through the night… Getting out at ten is a huge plus! I will put up with a lot of crap with the hours and money being this good….

It was a good first day working in Death Valley and a beautiful night… My new adventure begins in the most mysterious place I have ever lived… Can’t wait for this story to unfold and you better bet I will be sharing every experience…. Hopefully Death Valley won’t kill me…
