The Millennium Falcon needs a Home Entertainment system… 03/20/16

So, I’m settled in and started my new job…. But I have been warned over and over again about the extreme heat, so I have some very important work to do… The bartender Craig let me know that if I rely on my one roof #AC unit that I will probably be buying a new one when it inevitably broke… He also gave me a few tips on how to keep #TheMillenniumFalcon cool…

Well I have priorities folks! While I was in #L.A, my friend Fred had to pick up an optical cord for his enormous tv… While we were there, Fred insisted I get a flat screen #HDTV… He had an old blue ray player which he gave me… The player is old to Fred but it’s only a couple of years old really…. but it isn’t the new 4K player he had to have to go with his 4KTV… Fred loves his movies folks.. Lol…

Well anyway, there was a nice HDTV on sale, so I bought it with the money I didn’t have… I was going to my new job in a few days anyway… What the hell… But the new problem I was facing was where was I to put this new #TV…

IMG 7911IMG 7912

Now in the picture above, this has been my form of entertainment for the past year or so… It’s a little light television which came with the #RV… I mounted a hook and bracket so I could hang it while #camping and take it down when I had to hit the #road… I was on my own, so watching TV in the living room wasn’t a big enough deal to spend money on… I just watched tv in bed and if I had company, I would bring it out the tiny tv and we would watch it on my kitchen table…

IMG 7913

This is where the other tv was when I bought The Millennium Falcon… Right next to the driver’s seat in the cockpit…

IMG 6847

So if I wanted to watch TV I would have to open my cabin curtain to see the big tv in the cockpit… That kind of kills your privacy unless you want to cover up all of the windows in the cockpit… I found it to be a stupid problem to remedy when I could buy a nice new flat screen and mount it where ever I like in front of the curtain which provides me needed privacy… So I took out the huge tv and now use the cavity as a little storage space for my trinkets and necessities…

IMG 7813

Folks, you don’t know how much thought I put into hanging this TV… It had no #MountingKit so I figured I would buy an arm that could swing down, then I could fold my TV up while #traveling and moving around… My first thought was to mount the arm from #TheFalcon’s ceiling…

So, I ordered that arm from #Amazon… but unfortunately as a lot of ideas turn out, it wasn’t a good idea at all… First of all, I would have to screw into my ceiling with some pretty heavy duty hardware to keep this TV up… I was scared if I went too big on the screws I would have problems with leaking from the holes I created… You don’t want any leaks in your #RV! It’s a pain in the ass and cost a lot of money and time to fix…

So when that arm arrived in the mail, I was ready to send it back until I had this amazing idea… If you look at the top of my tv in the picture above, you will see this bracket with a loop on top of the TV… That was the arm I ordered and the loop is where the joint was so  it could pivot up and down if mounted…

IMG 7815

Well, I removed that joint and all it’s metal guts only to discover that the hole it created fit around my curtain rod perfectly… I mean with just a millimeter of clearance… So I took that joint out and used the hole to hang my tv on the curtain rod I installed for privacy (the curtain rod is very secure with heavy duty brackets holding it up from each side… so it was perfect for holding up a light flat screen…)

IMG 7817

So now I just pull apart the rod, which is very easy and then mount my tv on the curtain rod… Then I just easily slide the rod back together…

IMG 7812

Wallah!!! The beauty of all of this is when I have to pack up and travel, I can just take the tv down within seconds and it will be secure for the #travels… I just lay it on my couch, face down, where it is safe… And when mounted,  the curtains velcro right around the back of the tv, so you don’t have any strangers peeking into your house… It couldn’t have worked out more perfectly! Definitely a better solution than drilling holes in my ceiling…

But the next problem I faced was where was i going to put my #BluerayPlayer?

IMG 7916

Well folks, right next to where I mounted my tv is a little cabinet! This is my favorite cabinet because I designated it for my special possessions like a wooden box my Granddad made me… It was perfect for the Blueray and there was plenty of room for both the player and the things I already have stored in there…

IMG 7917

So there’s my #DVDPlayer, all set up and ready to go… I have it plugged in underneath and one #HDMICord going to the back of the tv…

But another problem I faced was hearing the TV over #TheFalcon’s noisy #AirConditioner… The #speakers on the TV were pathetic when it came to volume… But luckily a new friend I made on site gave me his #SoundBar in gratitude for all of the parties I have had where I provide complimentary fun… It’s just the way I am folks… You come over and hang with me, you get to experience rituals with me for free… An expense I am willing to shoulder just to spread good, innocent fun…

IMG 7918IMG 7919

So what I did with the sound bar was run an optical cord from the back of my tv, along over the door and into a cabinet above the kitchen table where sound can get to the ones sitting farthest away from the tv… You can see the cord running above my door and into the cabinet above my kitchen table…

IMG 7920

So now you don’t only have to go into the cabinets above the kitchen table for food, you also can get surround sound just by opening the door and hitting a button…

IMG 7923

So when I am ready to put on a nice and loud movie, all I have to do is open the door next to my tv and the door above my table… Wallah! My new home entertainment system folks!

IMG 7921

And when I am done, I just close the doors and the only way you know there is something in there is to notice the cord running into the door… Who knows, maybe I will go as far as drilling holes for the cords… But in due time… Let’s make sure I want to keep it this way before I go drilling holes into the Millennium Falcon… lol!

IMG 7922

I’m sure you noticed the Millennium Falcom model hanging from the ceiling… Someone left it outside of my RV! I don’t know who and like not knowing… It makes for a better story… lol!

And everyone of my #L.A. friends will be glad to hear that the first movie that played on this #EntertainmentSystem was #TheBigLebowski! No better movie to christen the new system in the good old #hippie grass smoking way than the #Casablanca of all #StonerMovies… “The Big Lebowski!” I wonder how many times I will watch it on this tv… LOL!

Goodnight!
